Taxi driver

I had a great taxi driver yesterday. He spoke English really well so we had a little chat. He said his brother lives in Long Island, NY and owns a convenience store there. He talked about how they're both paying to put their kids through school.

I've been to countless convenience stores where someone Asian worked there and it was just cool to be on the other side of the world talking to one of their brothers about how many kids they have, what they're studying in school, etc.

I love little moments like that!

Moving Day - finally

Today was the first day of my cousin's move to London. I'm so excited because moving is stressful and it's especially stressful when none of the stuff is yours but you're in charge of all the details. And SO much got done today! By the end of this week it'll all be done and I'll have 6 weeks without much work at all.

I can't wait! My plan is to start with a fast and take as many yoga classes as possible. I'm at my heaviest weight again (fuck) so I've gotta get back into shape. Will need to throw some spinning classes in there as well.

This is all after I finish eating the huge tub of Chocolate Gelato I just bought, of course.

Okay, it's 9:35pm and I have to finish the spreadsheet of all the items they own for the moving company.

I need to make a spa appointment (the back of my hand is on my forehead right now and I just sighed really loudly).

That Damn Archuleta

I know David Archuleta is going to win American Idol and I can barely stand it! I want David Cook to win! Archuleta can definitely sing but every song sounds the same to me. My little Cookie is more interesting.

The finale is showing in real time here so I'm getting up at 8am to watch it. Watch my heart BREAK as Archie wins, that is.

Downgraded

I spent a bit of time with a guy in Atlanta the last time I was home in March and we quickly grew attached to each other so when I got back to HK we would sign off our emails with:

"xoxo"

Or something similar. He just sent a quick email and signed off:

"later"

I think I've been downgraded :(

So Long!

I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted. As soon as I got back from Beijing I got so busy!!!

My cousin is permanently moving away from HK this weekend so I've been swamped preparing for their departure. And then I've had a busy social calendar as well. I'm really enjoying HK and am going to be SO SAD to leave!!!

I've been hiking and/or camping every weekend for the past 3 weekends with my friend Brigitte. And when we hike we end up at a beach where there's always a good restaurant and good people watching. Here's a link to my camping photos. We had the best time! Everyone was laid back and just had fun.

I'm getting used to this outdoor/active/beach lifestyle that HK offers. I had no idea there were so many cool hikes and things to do here! I thought HK was just the area where I live which is very NYC-ish.

The only bad thing about HK right now is there's a cockroach living in my bathroom and he won't leave! Although I can't blame that on HK really...this could happen anywhere. I try to hit him with my shoe and he cralls into this space where I can't reach him and then disappears. Then I'm creeped out for a day or two...forget about him...then one night I flick on the light and he's in my sink! Fucker!!!!

This is why I need a man. To kill the bugs.

I still don't have a flight to London yet for my move but it'll probably happen at the end of June. I'm just waiting to find out when all of my cousin's belongings will arrive in London since I have to be there when they get there.

I went to yoga today for the first time in at least 2 months. Felt SO GOOD! I need to look back at this post to remind myself of how good it feels the next time I get lazy.

Things I'm excited about that are happening this week:

(1) American Idol finale
(2) Indiana Jones premiere
(3) My cousin's move will be complete (on the HK end anyway)
(4) A mexican fiesta party on Saturday (hopefully I'll meet some new fun people)

I watched "The World of Suzie Wong" last night with Brigitte. It's about a prostitute who falls in love with a guy staying in the hotel where she picks up her men. It takes place in HK but in the 50's or so. It was so cool to see HK without all the skyscrapers and pollution. Beautiful!

Gotsta go to bed!
